There are several coffee shops in Houston that make it a business of giving back to the community.

In addition to the Katz Coffee program, these Houston shops provide opportunities to combine coffee with compassionate giving to make every bean count.

A 2nd Cup

This Heights shop blends business with social justice by providing awareness of human trafficking in Houston and a tangible way to help fund recovery resources for victims. Beyond brews made from ethically sourced beans roasted by Boomtown, the shop offers space to meet and organize with other people passionate about their cause (or who simply want a relaxed place to visit with friends or study!).

Throughgood Coffee

Intended as a collaborative space for people in search of tasty food and delicious coffee, this spot is also in the Heights but directs funds towards the Temenos Community Development Corporation (founded by the shop owners 25 years ago). The corporation provides housing and other resources for previously homeless people in Houston.

Paper Co. Café

Look for the trademark pale blue door to find this cafe and coffeeshop tucked into a nondescript warehouse near the corner of Washington and Houston avenues. All profits from houseroasted coffee and chef-prepared meals benefit the homeless community.
