Crityk - A new app that lets you focus on food and eat like a local anywhere!
Apps and food websites can be a double-edged sword when you’re seeking an exciting meal, at home or on the road. Choosing a restaurant is one thing, but what about the food? When you’re poring over online reviews you can get bogged down in details about the restaurant’s décor, or the rude wait staff, when what’s important—the food—gets lost in the shuffle. Don’t waste time parsing Yelp and Google reviews when you could use Crityk, the new app that lets you focus on food, and allows you to eat like a local anywhere.
Crityk puts the spotlight directly on food via your photos. Instead of asking for a total-restaurant experience, Crityk asks you to rate individual dishes at restaurants and upload with photo so that other users can quickly find the best food in the area, wherever they are.
With an Instagram-esque social interface, Crityk allows you to upload a photo, assign it a one-five-star rating, and a geo-tag. The app then uses that geolocation to introduce all users to high-rated dishes in their area, no matter where they are in the world. You can further tailor searches by dietary preference (e.g. vegan, paleo, etc.), and of course you can bookmark favorites and connect with friends within the app. Another cool feature: when you open a photo you can get directions and/or call the restaurant right from within the app.
“Crityk goes beyond sharing and rating dishes,” says the company’s Chief Operating Officer Hitesh Ambalal. “It creates an online community where users can connect to their fellow food lovers near and far.”
Crityk partners with restaurants and food-focused publications around the country, offering behind-the-scenes content from local chefs and culinary personalities curated exclusively for the app.
